My name is Mark Dowling, and I live and work on Queensland’s Sunshine Coast. I’ve been dealing full time with the idiosyncracies of search engines for over seven years, and I provide a range of search-related products and services through my company Stratify Pty Ltd, based at the University of the Sunshine Coast.
This blog has a few purposes. Firstly and most importantly, it’s a place where I can rant about nothing in particular. Just the things that interest me, excite me, or piss me off. My blog, my choice. Secondly, I use it to experiment with various search engine strategies. Anyone who’s spent any time delving into blogs knows there an army of experts who would love to take our hard earned cash for their expertise and insight into making blogs work. And you’d also know most of it is recycled bullshit. So on this blog, I try stuff out. There’s nothing commercial here so I won’t lose dollars, but I will gain some knowledge from first-hand experience.
A little bit about me. Julie & I moved up to Queensland four years ago, after some health problems made me realise there’s more to life than being a corporate puke. We have had property at Mudjimba (just north of the Maroochy River), Maleny (Sunshine Coast hinterland), and now live in Noosaville. Two sons. Will is a pilot working out of Darwin, and Ed is studying at Victorian College of the Arts.
